Privacy policy

What this website collects about you, why, and what you can do about it. In short: nothing at all unless you accept analytics cookies or join the mailing list.
Who we are
This website is run by the Climate Entrepreneurs Club, a student club of Imperial College Union at Imperial College London. Questions about this policy or your data go to climateentrepreneurs@ic.ac.uk.
If you join the club through the Union, your membership is handled by the Union under its own privacy notice, with the Union as data controller. This page covers the website only.
Visiting the site
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel receives your IP address and browser details with each request, to deliver the page and protect the service. We do not use those logs to identify anyone.
Fonts and scripts are served from our own address, so loading a page contacts no other company. Links to Instagram, LinkedIn and Linktree take you to those services, under their own policies.
Analytics, only if you accept
If you choose “Accept” in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics (measurement ID G-TYSDQVRKM0) to count visits: which pages are viewed, roughly where from (country or city), the type of device and browser, and which site sent you. This tells us whether the site is reaching students. If you choose “Reject”, or choose nothing, Google Analytics is never loaded.
Google processes this data under its Google Analytics terms. Google says Analytics does not log or store the IP addresses of UK visitors, and it keeps the data about individual visits for at most 14 months. Google may process it in the United States, under the UK–US data bridge. See Google’s privacy policy.
The legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw it any time under “Cookie settings” at the foot of every page, which also deletes the Analytics cookies. The cookie policy lists them.
The mailing list
If you sign up, your email address goes to our mailing list on Mailchimp, and we use it only to send you club news and events. Mailchimp stores it in the United States, under the UK Extension to the Data Privacy Framework.
The legal basis is your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us at climateentrepreneurs@ic.ac.uk to remove you. Mailchimp’s signup page, which opens when you submit the form, sets its own cookies.
Emailing us
If you email climateentrepreneurs@ic.ac.uk, the committee reads your message and the address it came from, and uses them only to reply. We do not add you to the mailing list unless you ask.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop us using it, by writing to climateentrepreneurs@ic.ac.uk. You can also contact Imperial College’s Data Protection Officer at dpo@imperial.ac.uk.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes
If the site starts collecting anything new, this page changes first, and the date above changes with it.
